A truly magical experience ! White was the colour of the evening…light free flowing malmal drapes hanging gracefully across the room, white candles burning brightly from every corner,  and diamonds. Steinmetz was presenting their 14 carat  Blue Empress to the glitterati of Bombay. 

Steinmetz, creators of the world's finest diamonds showcased a spectacular collection of blue diamonds at a 'Once in a Blue Moon' evening at the Oberoi Hotel organized by Brite Ideas,

A dome studded with mirrors, replicating the many facets of a diamond was placed on the stage from where gorgeous models stepped out wearing the stunning Steinmetz diamonds. A collection of 19 pieces carefully placed in white gold jewelry was displayed on the delicate necklines of some of India's leading super models.

Pop sensation Dannii Minogue, special guest for the evening flown down all the way from London, presented the final piece, the 14 carat 'Blue Empress' stone.

Among those that attended were Tina Ambani, Parmeshwar Godrej, Jaya Bachchan, Vijay Mallya, Anuradha Mahendra, Mr.& Mrs.I M Kadri, Madhu and Ravi Ruia of Essar. Mr.& Mrs.Sunil Gavaskar, Devika and Suresh Bhojwani. There were as many jewels off stage as they were on stage. The gorgeous Sophia Chowdhury, MTV VJ compered the show.

Also, Yuvraj Vikramaditya & Yauvrani Chitraangda of Kashmir, Nawab Syed Kazim Ali Khan & Begum Yaseen Ali Khan of Ramour , Maharawal Brijraj Singh of Jaisalmer were some of royalty that specially flew down for the occasion.

Manjari Chaturvedi, opened the show with her breathtaking sufi-kathak performance. Manjari blends the classical temple and darbari forms of Kathak with the mystique and moving meditation of Sufism this was followed by the models showcasing 19 pieces of jewllery designed by California based Christian Tse, jewellery designer to the Hollywood stars. Leading fashion designer Wendell Rodricks white ensembles with their clean lines were in perfect synergy with Tse’s designs specially the stunning diamond butterfly choker and of course the Blue Empress.

The Oberoi Hotel outdid themselves with a beautifully presented five course meal the highlight of which was a cold carrot & orange soup that came embedded in a block of blue ice!!

The evening was truly a 'Once in a blue moon' experience.
